something doesnt have to be intelligent to be alive. Take egg or sperm cells, they are technically alive in their own right just like blood cells in your body are alive. What is being argued is when life becomes self aware. Which I dont have an answer to that but I do say the human body is made up of skin and tissue and muscle all of which when you break it down comes to the cells which animal cells are living themself. Basic biology when you study the plant/animal cells.

but to the original subject. Could you agree that the raped girl is a lot more of a human than an embryo, and that her interests have more weight than the theoretical interests of the embryo?

i don't think it's arrogant to distill what people regard the essence of "human", compare it to what an embryo is and conclude that it lacks it. At least it's not more arrogant than declaring all non-humans as disposable products as opposed to individual beings, for the sole reason that they're genetically non-human. Interestingly, the latter is largely accepted almost without exceptions, although to me it's actually more arrogant than my first assertion by orders of magnitude.

1. Not wanting to have a child is not a sacrifice to any God let alone a false one. Your argument is non existent, inflammatory and means nothing to someone who isn't in your religion. 2. More people means more overpopulation and strain on the planet. We have plenty cheap labor. 3. I do not endorse killing children. I endorse the mothers right to remove child from her womb and the goal of technology and medicine to save the child's live.
