The problem with our regulatory system is that business and libertarians take such anti-regulatory/protections stances that regulations and protections can only be instituted after crises. This means that the only regulations we get are reactive and easily shot down. Thus, libertarians find a great straw man in these badly instituted regulations and they get weakened further. Its cyclical and the people suffer as a result. |
