Well, the old saying goes that great minds think alike....Isaac Newton and Leibnitz developed the calculus independently and simultaneously...the geometric theory of gravity was thought of by Wm Kingdon Clifford, Tulio Levi Civita and other great minds well before Einstein...so how do you distribute the real credit fairly? There is, however, no question about the "distributors" or MIDDLEMEN---the self proclaimed dtorekeepers mof and gate keepers to the knowledge that is free to all.

The future is about utilizing the sea of information available. This practice is, in itself, not evil as it represents this practice in its essence.
If the objective was to become knowledgable in an area, perhaps there would be more initiative to develop individual ideas.
but maybe I just copied these ideas from somewhere else :)

What do you mean "We", it is the responsibility of the person assigning the paper to check it for plagiarism, or gasp change your method of evaluation. I find it amazing that the crux of your complaint is based on laziness of the instructor about the laziness of the student.
