No the US is in a bad state right now, we use to be one of the best but now our country is in a downward spiral (hopefully Obama will be able to help change this). Don't get me wrong the U.S. is a great country but it doesn't change the fact that we are going down slowly.

Well for one the war in America doesn't just affect the people who are in combat, it affects just about everyone, and yes it would be a major loss to lose some one to this war but it affects just about everyone in America! And it's hard to be patriotic about America when we went to a war a lot of people didn't want to go to. and this song isn't an insult to America it can be insulting to some but a lot of this is truth. but i do agree this is a good song

Had it occurred to you that perhaps they intentionally shot the video this way to emphasize the naiveness of american foreign policy?

It is impossible for me to love these guys anymore. I live in their hometown, and I have 38 of their songs on my iPod. THEY ARE MY FAVORITE BAND IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonderful song! I've seen this video multiple times, but it never ceases to amaze me how well the song melds with the video. I've been a fan of Colin Meloy's since his "Tarkio" days. He is truly a man of tremendous musical aptitude.
