They were having fun with it, simply acting perhaps a little more enthusiastic than normally, but that's Green Day. Old Green Day, new Green Day, I just like to think that's them.

really to me it came across that he was pointing out that they were trying to act hardcore in order to appear cool, hence the line i have punks when they started throwing stuff

I don't watch the show, so I honestly and truthfully wouldn't know how he acts all the time. I see no irony in the usage of the word "punk". I simply just find him beyond awkward in the way that he converses with the band. It's like a school kid scrounging to fit in and relate, to find some window or glimpse of something they have in common. I find it mildly humorous as well. :)

i think you will find he was using the word punk ironically and that he really didn't try to relate to them, thats just the way the guy acts all the time

It's funny, becuase the host is trying to relate to Green Day, calling them punks and saying words like, "dick head". It's so fucking halarious. He's so awkward.
