Also, Shannon Hoon was a widely-known multi-platinum drug addict. He's well known for his crime record, and he died after overdosing on cocaine.
He wrote pop songs, and everything is poppy anymore; how is his influence not felt?!
I don't even see how the two musicians are comparable.

If nothing else, Jeff Buckley introduced me to Nina Simone, Leonard Cohen, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Patti Smith and Edith Piaf. And many more.
He's still my favorite musician, though. Technically speaking he was one of the best guitar players that I've heard- just try to play any of his songs! His understanding of music theory was very good. And his voice was- is- almost spiritual. One of the best.
Some people don't like him, that's fine; at least have a little respect for the guy.

who cares how old he was, every time we get a real muscian they die , just like Shannon from Blind melon he was famous for about 2 weeks then od on drugs, you think its a coinicidence that hendrix,joplin, Morrisison, all died so close together then JFK gets shot , robert kennedy and matin luther King , it seems to me someone is murdering anyone with Godly talent oy yeah and of course Tim Buckley Jeffs very own Father ?

guys, he was born in nov 1966, and died may 1997, so he was actually 30 years old when he drown in the river. Some say he committed suicide, but I guess we'll never know till we meet him on the other side

Are we still talking about Hendrix? If so, you are wrong. He was born November 27, 1942 and died September 18, 1970. If he had lived a couple of more months he would have been 28, but he was only 27 when he died.
