Thank yuou for sharing this. Rockmore is one of my favorite artists but I've never had actually watch her playing.

To date, noboday has achieved the sound that Clara Rockmore mastered on the theramin. She is the only artist in history to fully understand its importance as a serious instrument. She produces a sound which is a close cross between Maria Callas' tone and anguish and an emotive Niccolo Paganini.
It is so heartbreaking that this misunderstood instrument has for years become the subject of kitsch.

That was exquisite, dear. It brought me to tears many times. Thank you.

Spend a minute trying to play something besides raygun noises on a theremin, and you'll understand.
