Wow, thanks for putting this up, extremly high-quality, great style, plus a great bit of 'subtle' Eastern Bloc propaganda, very kitsch.
You have to admit, one advantage of a command economy was less interest in profits meant genre cinema like this got decent funding. People assume cheap because its "Soviet" but the quality and completely different pacing always fascinate me.
As a History, Film & SF nerd, this is great to watch, I'll definately be buying this quick-sharp.

When you look at the utter CRAP sci-fi the US was putting out in 63, at least in terms of special effects & production values, this is amazing. The spacesuits look great, there's zero gravity and no sound, it's ahead of a lot of modern science fiction.

If you've got a way to play PAL format dvds, it's well worth the money. I got it a few days after I saw this clip and loved it.

Realy great movie clip.
I'm hooked now I want to see this

This really was ahead of its time; it has none of the corniness like other films from the time period, modern camera movement and positioning and even some cool special effects I really didn't expect to see.
Thanks for putting this up.

Sf? what does that stand for?
As to the film, well, this is an embarrassment for star trek.
The Soviets made better scifi stiff than anything rodenberry could think up. |
