I love this video it says it all. I just retired after 32 years of broken service USMC & USN and a stint augmented to the US 3rd army. It really speaks to me about how lucky I have been that my Wife has put up with my need to serve (she was military brat who told me she would never marry a service man). Also the line be careful what you wish for because you just might get it all and some you don't want. I went to great effort to be asigned to OIF only to see a good friend killed the first week.

The germans were running low on troops, all that remained were children rushed through training and handed a gun. Their oil and gas reserves were heavily damaged by british bomb raids and the massive Panzers and Tigers guzzled fuel. The ammunition depots were emptying fast. With all these problems, hitler desided to focus all his troops onto Russia to eliviate oil and labour woes. This eased the way for the allies to take back the east. The war would have been won anyway, the US just sped it up.

Your right. If it wasn't for america, the allies WOULD have won. It's good to know we're all on the same page there, those dumb americans damning the world to fascism! But all joking aside, what the americans braught to the mix was the same the Russians braught right about the same time. Assembly lined tanks. But the russians had better tanks, with more advanced armour then everyone else's. the T-35s had a much greater impact then the Shermans.

We didn't lose most of are fights, but we did lose a good amount. And the Japanese were not under skilled. The Japanese were a very resilient and tough enemy who never gave up a single yard without making us pay for it, but we eventually defeated them. And the Italians were a bit of a pushover. If it wasn't for the Germans huge advantage in armor we would not have lost nearly as many battles to them. But we still won in europe. Without are help it is unlikly that the allies would have won WWII.

mgsfan; americans were on the winning side in WW2, but they generaly lost most of their fights. Basicaly, they one the pacific against japan and they beat the Italians, both of whome were under under equiped and under skilled. In most of their battles against the Germans they lost spectacularly, especialy in tank fights, where german panzers had a k/d of 5 shermans down for every panzer destroyed. American weapons were far behind the rest or rip offs from the german guns. |
