Genius is such a powerful, dangerous word, just like Love. Yet many of us can't comment on this rarified artist without using both words; She is a Genius and we Love her.

I agree completely. Skippy makes a good point though. The problem is that the A&R people these days are looking for "guaranteed" lowest common denominator "talent" and not really looking for real talent. Joni would never even get signed today.
Instead you get hip-hop and another mariah carey wanaa be.
