It think she strums up with her fingers. At least that's what came naturally for me.

if it helps at all this is a realllllly fast rumba. (when rodrigo slows down on the solo you can really feel the typical speed of a rumba). Rodrigo says that they aren't flamenco, but they are definitely heavily influenced by flamenco

I HAVE DISCOVERED THE SECRET after 3 or 6 month of trying this technics :
just be generous, give the best you have, be be endeviled by the music...
Don't think about anything, just feel the rhythm and it will come naturally. just try to make some basic patterns, with your heart and with energy...
Tonight I had a revelation about that, My fingers are bleeding, my nails are broken, but i'm so happy to have the "feeling"..
JUst strive hard, try to get the feeling :)

WHAT IS GABRIELA DOING DIRECTLY AFTER EACH HIT?!? The hardest part for me in attempting to learn this technique is getting back into the strumming QUICKLY after each hit.(And she's going waaay to fast for me to see exactly what she's doing) Is it thumb up, thumb down, ring & middle up, or ring & middle down? (or something crazy that i don't even know about) Please someone get back to me on this! THANKYOU!!!
