the most unfortunate fact was that the alternative to KMT government was proved even worse.

not just a great battle, but the entire province of Guanxi in mere weeks. But to be fair, KMT is not just a single KMT as it is now. It was riddled with factions and cliques with it's own private army. So they can't fight together properly. The classic case being Chang KaiShek's continued fight for power with Wang JingWei (who later defected to the japanese) before the war and with Li ZongRen after the war.

at point, I would just recomend p2p. It's a really old movie anyways. I doubt it's copyrighted anymore. perhaps have a chinese version and hunt for a srt file for subtitles.

Based on the fact that KMT even lost a great battle in 1944, when Japan was beaten everywhere else....I don't think that KMT is competent to run the Chinese government.
Obviously you need to dig more history.
