she was so scared, but she's got an amazing voice. you know, simon's not all that bad. he could have just said that she was good and on to the next round, but he really sang high praises and it was a boost. he's got his tender moments. lol. shaking. when she started singing, then you couldn't tell she was scared. when she finished, then she was scared again.

When I am in plays I still don't take compliments well. Partly because I am very critical of myself. Logically melinda could deduce that she has talent as a singer (she books jobs, peer and family feedback etc) that doesn't mean she really believes it. It's completely possible & totally plausible that she has is insecure @ her talent. That insecurity makes her surprised when people validate her talent.If she doesn't believe it 100% she may be incredulous when others do.

Im not sure comparing your high school and college experience acting to her being a professional background singer is a fair comparison. You do not audition to be a background singer for a major star unless you think you are good. If she had any doubts, once she got the job and toured with them, she had some idea she had a voice. I didnt comment on her being nervous or terrified. I commented on her being so shocked when the judges said she had a good voice. She knew she had one...it was an act

Guard0544 I'm guesing that you're not a performer. In HS & in college I competed in acting & speech events. I have placed 1st in many tournaments even when triple entered. I am ALWAYS terrified before I start. Hands and leg shaking, closed body posture, run to bathroom NERVOUS. My competitors have accused me of being fake because they comfort me & then feel tricked when I get up and KILL it. My performance never shows how scared I am Talent does NOT = confidence.
