2 things... Should I wait for a new macbook to come out? And should i get the macbook or the macbook pro?

you would buy a PS3 because its the less expensive blueray player. and sure you could take it with you, and that would be one of the reasons why blueray would be nice on a mbp, but the price would go up, and you know why? a blueray drive is expensive, and if you would want what is best, you need a hybrid drive, and thats even more expensive. i support your idea, im just saying the reasons why apple havent put a blue ray drive into their macs.

well a ps3 is not portable for starters... For example, what if i want to take my mbp with me on a trip and rig it up to my tv in hotel room? its more about convenience than anything. And the price increase would NOT match the total price of a ps3, that's just exaggerating! Also, why would i want to purchase a gaming console when I hardly ever play games? buying it purely for the blue ray would be unjustified...
TheBrokenEclipse (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
yes of course, but then why not buy a PS 3? since the MBP's price would go up roughly about what a PS 3 costs... it would be great to have it, but it doesnt because all those problems exists...

Yep i'm sure plenty of people would rig it up to their projector/HDTV/monitor, no worries at all! ahwell, i guess its all pie in the sky at the moment. it will be interesting to see how things pan out for HD video. I think you're right about the internet playing a part in how we access the media in the not so distant future.
TheBrokenEclipse (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
i do agree that blueray would be a cool feature, but just think about it, a MBP would get a lot more expensive, and then you had to use more money on the movies potentially the games, and then comes the screen, you dont watch movies as good as blueray on a laptop, you would destroy the quality.
y00tuber (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
well yeh, i guess it comes down to low price vs high quality. Those who want a laptop without the extra features/quality will buy a macbook, people who want all the latest features/extra quality will buy a macbook pro, which is why I think they should of included it in the pro.

uhm portable HD movies, sure, there is only one, since HD DVD was given up by toshiba... but thats why i put it up against DVD, since dvd is alot cheaper, and for most people thats whats sets them apart from each other, with a BLueray you have to also buy a expesive player. and the price makes the blueray format a little player on the market today, hence many multimedia companies wont use it as a standard, since its still better to go with DVD, when its about marked share.
y00tuber (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
OK i think there's a bit of misunderstanding. :) What I'm trying to say is blue ray is more or less a defacto standard for portable HD movies. That's all! I'm not comparing it with the DVD standard. It would of been convenient if apple included blueray in the macbook *pro*. Especially seeing as Macs are considered the premium machines used for multimedia! And yeh it wouldn't surprise me if apple start to push for people to download HD movies as an alternative, costing consumers more
TheBrokenEclipse (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
uhm, why is that? since DVD is still much bigger than blueray, mainly because of the absurd price for a blueray disk or player -.-
