Gout plagued me for almost 20 years. I would find myself hobbling around on a gouty foot in bad situations on trips or in the airport. Colchicine would get rid of it in a matter of hours, but it always replaced it with terrible diarrheah (sp?). Allopurinol though was miraculous. Since I started taking it two years ago, I haven't had gout at all. It is amazing and harmless

Don't apologise for setting the record straight icspirits. It would be nice if shaneury apologised for misinforming people on such an important subject.
This is a fantastically detailed consultation, communicated in very easy to understand terms, AND ITS FREE.
Thank you Doc!

wow shaneury...angry much?
Never went to med school, but I suffer from gout and every doctor I've ever consulted has told me this. As well as the doctor in this video...he claims that purines are proteins as well. Just backing up the doc on what I've learned through reading and experience.
Wasn't trying to piss anyone off here.

Purines ARE a protein.
shaneury (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
gout is the result of the bodies metabolism of Purines, not protiens |
