this song was inspirated by a schoolmate from bono's high school,this kid had a movement disease,couldnt talk, couldnt move, but he wasnt mentally ill,so at the age of 18 his mom paid a very very expensive medical operation just for making the boy to move only one finger, the boy in return used to write poems to her mom with only one finger,and became a very great irish poet and writer, so if you read the lyric is the mom singing to his son about the miracle drug "the love drug"
