It's a play on words. Because the "f" from "off" carries through into the sound of the name "Annie" and it kind of sounds like "Fannie" the name of a company in which the federal government of the United States recently "took a load off" by bailing them out of a big debt. You are insulting humanity by saying that a play on words doesn't have anything to do with the original. That's why it is a pun.

Get this Straight rejects, the song words are Take a load off Annie, not Fannie, its about a girl named Anna lee and you never, ever name a girl named anna Fannie and it has nothing to do with Fanny mae or fannie mac so fix your heading to Annie or you are insulting the band

Good Lib propaganda. Completely left out barney frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters and Congresses full-court press to corrupt and mis-manage Fannie/Freddie. Very similar to the Main Stream Media's coverage of the election in general, too. Myopic, biased, Neo-commie presentation with tunnel vision clarity. a.k.a RIP - Honest Journalism - 2008
