Perhaps what you dislike is that PD sings more controlled; ie less free than LP. LP had a naturally higher voice. PD began his career as a baritone. As such, he has some nice color and control that LP did not have. Either way, they are/were both legitimate singers.

Domingo is generally more technically accurate. He is more of a musician than Pavoratti was. You are however, comparing Domingo's performance to Pavoratti when the piece discussed is just part of PD's repertoire. We all know that LP made it his signature piece. He was not dumb; he knew he could perform it well.

Domingo can hold notes, he's not a bad singer. I find that in Domingo and Carreras' singing there's not as much passion as Pavarotti (in my opinion). It's also a lingual thing, Domingo and Carreras are... Spanish... or something? Pavarotti was born speaking Italian, he has an Italian accent... Operatic music is written in Italian.

Well, both Pavarotti and Domingo are brilliant but do your self a favour and listen to the very best of them all, The very great Jussi Bjorling. And while you are there listen to O Helga Natt. The Swdish version of O holy night.

I'm not sure what everyone is talking about...Domingo can't hold notes for shit, especially high notes. Yes, he has good emotion, but Pavarotti's version of Nessun Dorma is much better. Listen to the 1979 verison at the Met and tell me Pavarotti is not better.
