I had heard that story before I saw this induction ceremony. I believe it's entirely true and to listen to him tell it, it'd be difficult not to believe. Powerful moment, that.

That story about Adam taking a bullet for Bono...sorry to sound idiotic but did Adam really or was he metephorically speaking? If anyone could tell me where I could read about it in greater detail I'd love that. Really lovely to see Bono's perspective on his bandmates, they're practically brothers! :]

My father was eastern European and so i think my perspective was always in the minority. I guess it was frustrating growing up in NYC suburbs and how so few could identify with or understand a different way of thinking. I think the Irish suffer from a bit of that misunderstanding too- but to feel like an island like I do with a mindset entirely different with a unique cultural awareness (east Europe) has really complicated my life and few could ever understand espeically not an Irish priest!

Being an Irish Catholic New Yorker I find your comment provocative and refreshingly honest. However, and I think Bono would concur, if you want to understand the Irish, read James Joyce. The lyrics of many U2 songs (e.g. "One Tree Hill") suggest Joyce's influence on Bono. As an Irishman I don't necessarily disagree with you either; Joyce, Bono (and countless others) are the poetic Irish and quite a different breed than many (but not most) Irish-Americans.
