When did I ever say that there should be no intervention at all?
Were did I say no regulation?
I just can't stand that we set the minimum wage to $5.15.
That wasn't enough.
Then it went to $7.50.
That wasn't enough.
Now you want $10??
When will it ever be enough?
Minimum wage was NEVER meant to be a means of supporting a family. If you have a family and you are only making minimum wage, it is YOU that needs to change for the better.
Don't kill businesses because of your laziness to improve.

did Walesa get everything he wanted? NO
but he did not want workers not to get anything for their hard work other than a few złoty a day. they deserved more. s they fought, they also fought for a right to Union Organizing.
i just feel overtime and minimum wage are there to allow people to know there work is valued
if overtime becomes a choice it will DIE

because as i stated before these are NOT communist rules that business has. these are rules very similar to what workers in Poland (my home country fought for)
if you look at the Solidatary movement and Lech Walesa who fought for the very same things workers in the U-S now enjoy like overtime, saftey regulations, and yes a starting wage (i understand a debate if that should exist dose arise)
i think banks have shown in the last couple of months what happens if they are totally
de-regulated

On a curios note, if you lived in a communist country, as you claim, and you support the government's meddling in private industry, why did you leave?
If the bastion of paradise is Communism, why did you bother coming to the U.S.?

Please do tell me how mandating the minimum wage will help anyone.
If all industries are required to increase their base pay, that will have a shockwave effect on cost of production, thereby increasing all prices for all goods.
How are we then any better off than before?
The idea is known as a "false economy". You increase the cost to produce, and prices go up, putting you right back in the same position as before.
A mandated minimum wage is a terrible idea.

communism my friedn ALSO tells us NEVER to question the goverment (i.e if you dont support bush you hate america)
I lived in a communist country and belive me from real experience the laws business have in place are NOT communism
stladsparish (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
another angle to look at is that overtime pay
has had NO influence if a company dose well or not
it (along with mininum wage) has been around since the 30s companies have boomed and gone under since but not from direct effect of mininum wage and for sure not overtime pay
these things are part of work laws just like OSHA laws i dont think anyone would say govt safty standards should go away (that is unless you produce caskets across the street from your job site lol)
stladsparish (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
your way dose not work either, trickle down has not created a single job in history
so overtime pay is communism? sign me up
if your paycheck got time and a half on it for evereything after 40 that looks good right?
kauboy9816 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
That's called communism my friend, and it never works.
Forcing an employer to live up to your standards is asinine.
The market can decide whether that company will go under or prosper. If the employer doesn't pay enough, he won't find any workers, which will cause him to raise wages.
The federal government stepping in and mandating it is a sure way to kill competition, drive up prices, and bring back record unemployment.
You are a dolt.

no recission huh? well i hope you have heard that for the last year we have been in one
you know y you commie/concervatives like the word tricke down? cause the working class (something republicans know NOTHING ABOUT) the working classed gets PISSED ON
What are your ideas for the economy? to take away the RIGHT to overtime pay and high wages by giving more to CEO'S
its like this concervatives
ceo pay cut = communism
worker pay cut = return the company to profitability |
