People that knew no better thought slavery was a perfect world too...thats y it lasted 400 yrs...that doesnt make it right... blackface is nothing to laugh at. Especially when its still going on today. How can we move forward when there are people that can simply not look past their own nose.

Many of the Merv shows are only saved as kinescopes. The last kinescopes were done as recent as 1982.

I have to interupt the racial arguments for a technical question..... Where did this clip come from? It's very strange to see a 1970's kinescope, unless the film was making the rounds of the party circuits. What's the history of this clip?

If anyone making dumb comments here listen up: If your too young and didn't live through the 50's, 60's, 70's and partly the 80's as an adult, this was the way of the world back then and NO ONE got offended. People really did like each other a lot more than today's fucked up society. Take my word, the world was a better place then. We are most definitely are going backwards. This was funny then and it's funny now!!!
